New to cosmetic injections? Here’s some information you need to know before your appointment.
Anti-wrinkle Injections used to temporally relax upper facial muscles to reduce dynamic lines and wrinkles. As we age, the lines on the forehead and around eyes start to appear deeper and longer. Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular facial rejuvenation treatment and are an effective procedure that helps to refresh your facial appearance and to reduce forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines.
Anti-wrinkle injections contain a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The protein produced by bacteria in the same way as many antibiotics are made. You cannot catch a disease from the injection – there is no bacterium present. The manufacturing process kills and illuminates the bacteria leaving only the purified protein that is safe to inject. This type of therapy has been originally used safely and effectively in clinical practice to treat hemifacial spasms also known as facial spasms. Currently, botulinum toxin also has been safely used to treat many ophthalmological and neurological disorders.
A few microinjections are administered into the targeted area. The treatment usually takes 10 minutes. Due to the fine needle size and a tiny amount of product injected, the procedure is commonly associated with only mild discomfort and anesthetic is usually not required. You can resume normal activities immediately.
Common side effects are generally restricted to a minor bruising or redness at the injection site that can be covered with makeup. Occasionally some patients may experience a mild headache or nausea. There is a small risk that injected product can migrate in nearby muscles and cause temporary weakness to those muscles. These may result in a slight drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow, or asymmetry of facial expression. Any side effects are temporary and may last between one to six weeks.
Anti-wrinkle injections are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dermal Filler products are a clear sterile gel that consists of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA is found naturally in our body, where its main role is to provide hydration to the skin by attracting water molecules. HA fillers are biocompatible and biodegradable and can last from 6 to up to 24 months. Longevity of Dermal Fillers may vary from person to person and depends on the product choice, area treated, and the volume injected.
Dermal Filler treatments are used to restore loss of volume, soften facial lines, wrinkles, and folds, as well as applied to enhance facial features and correct asymmetry.
The common treatment areas:
After an initial consultation, treatment usually takes about 30 minutes, depending on patient needs. The downtime associated with Dermal Filler injections usually minimal and most people return to their daily routine straight away. Follow-up treatment may be necessary to create the desired outcome and it is recommended to maintain the effect.
Dermal fillers are generally well tolerated. As with any medical treatments, side effects can occur. Following the treatment, you may experience some mild bruising, redness, puffiness, and tenderness at the injection site that usually settles within 48 hours. After a lip filler treatment, swelling can persist over two to three days before lips settle to their actual volume.
